Everybody can benefit from massage. Professional massage is not just for the rich and famous. It’s no longer just a relaxing spa escape from the stress of the week. Through scientific research massage has been shown to have some incredible therapeutic effects in relieving many troubling symptoms, pain and dysfunctions of the musculoskeletal system.

Massage therapy is now the fastest growing healthcare profession in the nation and one of the most popular alternative medicine treatments. From July 2011 to July 2012, 34.5 million Americans got a massage at least once. Of those, 43 percent reported they did so for health conditions such as pain management, injury rehabilitation, migraine control, or overall wellness. Ninety percent agree that massage therapy can be effective in reducing pain.

Thirty four million Americans discussed massage therapy with their doctor or healthcare provider this last year. Of those, fifty percent of health care providers strongly recommended massage therapy. While Chiropractic offices led the way in referrals; doctors, physical therapists and nurses also recommended or referred patients for massage therapy. Sixty one percent of all Americans would like to see massage therapy covered on their insurance policy. And almost every Massage Therapist believes massage should be included in the health care field. (statistics from American Massage Therapy Association Industry Fact Sheet 2013)
