I heat the bamboo tools with a large digital heating pad, about 12” X 24”, setting the temperature to 160. Heat them for about ½ hour before you plan on using them for a very soothing result.
There are several different sizes and styles of bamboo massage tools. You can use any type lotion or oils with them. First apply lotion or oil to the skin and then massage with the hot sticks. Be careful not to press too hard over boney surfaces. After use clean with antibacterial wipes and they are ready for the next use.
Mu-xing Bamboo sticks are the best priced and Mu-Xing gives the option of buying the individual tools. The other brand will only sell complete kits, which are more expensive. You can buy Mu-Xing kits, too, but you have the option of buying the individual tools. You can purchase Mu-Xing Bamboo Sticks and other bamboo massage tools below.
What is Mu-Xing Therapy (Hot Bamboo)?
Mu-Xing Therapy is a treatment using warm bamboo and rosewood tools to perform deep tissue massage. The therapist uses Mu-Xing instruments of different shapes and sizes to apply a variety of massage strokes which address ischemic tissue and promote a deep sense of overall well being and relaxation.
What are Mu-Xing tools made from?
There are 2 types of wood used in Mu-Xing Therapy; Rosewood and Bamboo. Rosewood is a hardwood usually deep red in color, found in Brazil, East India, Japan and Madagascar. The Mu-Xing rosewood tools are individually hand carved. Each rosewood piece is unique and specially crafted for Mu-Xing techniques.
The bamboo used is 100% natural. They do not use any varnish or finishes. Using bamboo in this raw form allows for greater sensitivity and palpation of the tissue and muscles. Mu-Xing tools are made from cross sections of solid bamboo which are then compressed and cut into pieces. The bamboo pieces are finely sanded and ready for practicing “Mu-Xing”. This process creates a sturdy and long lasting product. Mu-Xing tools are easy to maintain because simple imperfections can be smoothed easily with an emery board or fine sand paper.
Mu-Xing Bamboo Massage Tools are available below with shipping rates as follows: $10 shipping for under $100; $14 for $100-199.99; $18 for $200 purchase or more.
